Carla Fleming

 Carla Fleming

Performer and recording artist Carla Fleming, has been singing professionally for enthusiastic audiences since the age of 15, but in the recent years she has found her true voice: a powerful, full sound that balances strength and sensuality. Fleming grew up in a deeply musical family in Chicago, with influences that included the old-school R&B she grew up with, her father's doo-wop singing, her mother's gospel background, jazz songs, and pop.

Carla began performing at political and community events in her native Chicago at the age of 8 and moved to Sacramento as a teenager, singing at area events with her high school's performance choir and winning a scholarship to the California Summer School of the Arts. Fleming began her recording career at the age of 18, initially working as a backup singer for local artists.

Since 2001, she has worked with acclaimed producer Ivan Johnson, who writes her music and produced her 2003 EP Lover, featuring Fleming's vocals and original lyrics. The CD, which sold well locally, shows off Fleming's silky-smooth sound beautifully on such sexy tracks as "Hot" and "Ride and See". Her lastest project is"Domestic Disturbance".

In the past two years, Fleming has undergone an artistic transformation, developing a stronger, more powerful voice. But unleashing her vocal dynamism doesn't mean that Fleming has abandoned her soft and sultry side. Instead, she's added strength and range to her trademark sensuality. Her voice's promise of more power has been amply fulfilled in her live performances, tours de force in which she sets her full range free to thrill audiences.
